Bhutan Package (05 Nights / 06 Days) - DIDO

Thimphu (2320 Mts / 7656 Ft, 158 Kms / 05 to 06 Hrs drive approx)

After breakfast, drive towards Thimphu. En route stop at Kharbandi immigration checkpoint to get the stamp on your permit and further continue our journey, there are many fruit and vegetable vendors that you may spot along the drive. On a clear day you can see the Indian flood plains with the tea garden in a distance and the blooming Phuntsholing town. As we get closer to Gedu the weather will be cooler and we will pass by Gedu College of Business, the only Business college under the Royal University of Bhutan. Further we will be stopping at Bumpagang Immigration check point for our final stamp to enter Bhutan. Within few minutes we will see the first Hydro project plant built in the country in 1960s, Chukha Hydro Power Cooperation. After that we will be driving along the newly opened Chukha-Damchu by pass and will reach the confluence Chuzom, from here the capital city is only 30 Km away. On arrival in Thimphu, check in to the hotel.

Later visit some sights in Thimphu including  National Memorial Chorten, the stupa built in the memory of Bhutan's third King, His Late Majesty, King Jigme Dorji Wangchuk, who is popularly regarded as Father of modern Bhutan.  The paintings and statues inside the monument provide a deep insight into Buddhist philosophy.

Buddha Point (Kuensel Phodrang). Located at a short drive from Thimphu city Centre, visitors can get a good overview of the Thimphu valley from the Buddha point (Kuensel Phodrang). You can pay your obeisance and offer prayers to the Buddha, the largest statue in the country and then walk around and take a glimpse of the valley.

Later walk along the Authentic Craft Market, also known as the handicrafts market of Thimphu is a perfect place to get a glimpse inside the art and craft of Bhutan. The Shops are made using the eco-friendly bamboo and the youngsters welcoming with smiling face. Craft bazaar is helpful for us as it differentiates our Bhutanese products from the other product in the market.

Punakha / Wangdi (1273 Mts / 4177 Fts, 70 Kms / 03 to 3½ Hrs one way drive approx)

After breakfast drive to Punakha / Wangdi, which is the last town on the highway before entering Central Bhutan. The drive is over Dochu La pass (3080 Mts / 10102 Ft) which is very scenic with fascinating view of mountains of Bhutan on a clear day.

Visit Punakha Dzong, built strategically at the junction of Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers in 1637, by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal to serve as the religious and administrative center of the region, Punakha Dzong has played an important role in Bhutan's history. Damaged by four catastrophic fires and an earthquake, the Dzong has been fully restored by the present King, the Palace of Great Happiness, it is one of the most beautiful Dzongs in Bhutan who will showcase the finest example of Bhutanese architecture.

Later  enjoy the village walk, excursion to Chimi Lhakhang , the walk starts through paddy fields and villages. This is total about 1 hour30 minutes walk, both way).The Chimi Lhakhang, situated on a hillock in the canter of the valley, also known as the temple of fertility. It is widely believed that couples who do not have children and wanting one, if they pray at this temple, they are usually blessed with a child very soon. The trail leads across rice fields to the tiny settlement of Pana, meaning ‘field’. A walk through the village near the temple will give you rare glimpses into the daily life and lifestyle of the villagers.

Paro (2200 Mts / 7218 Fts, 150 Kms / 04 to 05 Hrs approx drive)

After breakfast, checkout & then transfer from Punakha/ Wangdi to Paro, we will be driving the same road over Dochula Pass down to Thimphu Valley and follow the Thimphu Chhu till Chuzom, the confluence between the two rivers, Paro and Thimphu. Stop for photo at Takchogang Lhakhang, a private temple dedicated to Drupthop Thangtong Gyelpo, the iron Bridge builder in Tibet and Bhutan.

After lunch, after lunch proceeds to visit Ta Dzong, originally built as Watchtower, which now houses National Museum. The extensive collection includes antique thangkha paintings, textiles, weapons & armour, household objects and a rich assortment of natural.

Later visit Ringpung Dzong, (“fortress of the heap of jewels”), which has a long and fascinating history. Along the wooden galleries lining the inner courtyard are fine wall paintings illustrating Buddhist lore such as four friends, the old man of long life, the wheel of life, scenes from the life of Milarepa, Mount. Sumeru and another cosmic Mandala , you can walk from the Dzong down to the Traditional Cantilever bridge.  

Evening an exploratory walk around Main Street and Paro Kaja Throm.
